Mangalam Yantra Yoga Classes Start Next Week in Needham Center
Blue Lotus Healing Arts in Needham Center opens its yoga studio today and will start offering Mangalam Yantra Yoga classes next Tuesday, March 24th.
Mangalam Yantra Yoga explores how yoga practices from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition can be used to improve your health, transform emotional blockages, deepen your meditative experience and cultivate a deeper awareness of the true nature of your mind. Based on Mangalam Yantra Yoga, a practice originally introduced to Tibet by the Indian master Virupa in the 10th century, this class includes mantras, guided pranayama practices (Vayu Yoga) and the basics of Kaya Shuddhi—a set of simple physical postures designed to release energetic blockages and create more fluidity in the joints. Traditionally considered a secret teaching rarely taught outside of Tibetan monasteries, this class will give you an unparalleled opportunity to become part of an unbroken lineage of Yantra Yoga practitioners that extends over a millennium.
Guided by Mangalam Yantra Yoga instructor Susan Prentiss, this 75-minute class will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm at Blue Lotus Healing Arts in Needham Center. The first class kicks off next week on March 24th.
Susan completed her 500-hour RYT certification under PranaVayu Yoga founder David Magone and received her Relax and Renew® Trainer certification in Restorative Yoga from Judith Hanson Lasater. She also holds certifications in Shamatha Calm-Abiding Meditation and Mangalam Yantra Yoga from Khenpo Migmar Tseten Rinpoche at the Harvard University Buddhist Chaplaincy.
Please note: Due to the emphasis on breath retention practices, this class is contraindicated for expectant mothers
